Jie Shao (b.1994) is an artist based in New York and Shanghai. Jie received an MFA from Parsons School of Design. Inspired from artful and accidental coincidence in historical fragments between Chinese and Western culture, to the particular discipline of knowledge (including the development of art medium, anatomy and engineering). Jie’s sculpture and installation combine handmade sculpture, hardware, and artificial materials, with transformation of one material in different forms (such as brass) to organize narratives hidden behind.
Jie is also working on Pararailing with friends, through different forms of practice including material, space, and text to extend the boundaries of being an artist as an individual.
