Madison Manning
My work is made for the body as it navigates space; those known and unknown, familiar and distant. I locate relationships between seemingly dissonant materials, often hair and eyelashes, construction materials and textiles; materials that are soft, or made to appear so. My work is genderless, though it evokes romance, longing, tragedy, comfort and confusion. They are inviting and tactile; enticing to touch as they seem familiar yet removed. My work aims to create a new language of the body, it’s space and it’s memories.
I am currently completing my MFA in Sculpture at New Mexico State University after receiving my BFA in Jewelry Design + Metalsmithing (2015) from Texas Tech University. In 2018 I will be relocating to Brooklyn, New York and I can be followed on Instagram @madisonmanning.
