Darkness Falls

September 6th, 2016

Averill Park, NY, United States

As a celebration to the arrival of the fall our Artist in Residence Christine Finn invited the local community for an evening of food, sound, photography, and film...

The evening started out with a dinner in the dark, an exploration of eating with one sense less. This was followed by well chosen words and images to evoke the play of dark and light, from lost Auroras to film transformed from an object of decay to a thing of beauty.

Featured were the drawings of Sophus Tromholt, 19th century Danish photographer and astronomy pioneer, presented by Christine Finn; his words spoken by English actor, Michael Maloney (Truly, Madly, Deeply; The Reader), and then a screening under the stars of Bill Morrison's classic film of found footage "Decasia" (2002)
