We are overjoyed to share that our dear friend, Arts Letters and Numbers’ Founding Board Member and Visiting Artist, Bill Morrison, has officially been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short for his extraordinary film, “Incident.” Directed by Bill Morrison and produced by Jamie Kalven, “Incident” is a masterful work that has captivated audiences worldwide. This Oscar nomination is one among several impressive accolades which the groundbreaking film has earned. This recognition is a testament to the power and impact of Morrison’s storytelling, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate this incredible milestone with him.

"Incident" directed by Bill Morrison, 2024, 30 mins. U.S. DCP. Through a composite montage of images from surveillance and security footage as well as police bodycams, "Incident" provides witness to the killing of Chicago barber Harith “Snoop” Augustus by local police, as well as to its immediate aftermath and consequences, including the cries of an outraged community and the justifications and manipulations of the officer and his abettors.
